Newly qualified technician at Glews
Glews are pleased to announce that Service Technician Michael Cowling has officially qualified as a motor mechanic by passing his level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle maintenance.
Michael who lives in Goole, and was previously a student at Vermuyden College, started his studies at Doncaster GTA in 2012 when he joined Glews.
The qualification now allows Michael to take on more serious work in the workshop and he will now be put on the path to becoming a Peugeot Master Technician.
Michael said “when I started at Glews I was just doing simple jobs like changing tyres and pads, doing the course at GTA and getting back up and support from Glews means that I have now progressed to doing some diagnostic work and more complicated service job. My next steps are to learn more about diagnostics so I can take on some of the more complicated jobs”
Michael attended the college for one day every 3 weeks and was visited by college assessors who watched him doing jobs in the Glews’ workshop to make sure he was up to the required standard.
David Giles, Dealer Principal at Glews said, “we believe that it is important to offer young people the opportunity to learn a trade and to support them through their learning and development. We offer places for trainees and apprentices in our workshop and give them the opportunity to become the Master Technicians of tomorrow. Michael has proved that he has the capability to be a very good technician and we wish him all the best in his chosen career.”
Outside of work Michael is a talented musician, playing guitar, drum and piano, he completed a music degree at York St John’s and plays in a band. He lives in Goole with his wife after getting married last year.
